And That's a Wrap*

And That's a Wrap*

Hey all! We are finally at the finish line for most everyone. The softcover copies of Devoured Labyrinth came in, looked awesome, and were put in the mail yesterday.

*There are still about 10 of you that have not completed your survey or that I have sent a message to (via email and via Kickstarter messages), but enough time has passed that I feel comfortable closing the project down.

Thank you all so much. Josh and I deeply appreciate you trusting us with making an engaging product and we really hope you are as excited to bring These Bloody Sails to your games as we are. You all, frankly, RULE.

With that, I am marking this project as completed. My email remains open if there are any problems/issues.

Hey, here's a picture of the book at its FIRST CONVENTION. KANTCON, a local Kansas City Convention, happened last weekend. My pals Zac Goins/Jeff Jones/Kage were running a booth there and allowed me to sell my book alongside theirs. It was exciting. Here's a proud me in a picture with Zac.

He called me a friend in a recent update of his and now he cannot take it back. What a sucker.

These Bloody Sails was ran twice at KANTCON, once by me and once by friend/playtester John. The players reported having a lot of fun and that just warms my heart.

GenCon 2026

GenCon 2026 is NEXT WEEK in Indianapolis and yet again I will be slinging books with the LIMITHRON CREW! Not only will I be there selling awesome stuff, but they even will be carrying THESE BLOODY SAILS! Wow.

If you are at the convention and want to say hi, get your book signed, or whatever, come on by! We will be in the dealer hall all day, Thurs-Sun, booth number 2643. Here's a map for you scallywags.

These fools keep inviting me to help, not realizing I am slowly but surely going to take over the booth one book at a time.

Fantastic Figureheads...And Where to Find Them

My lovely wife and I are currently running our first Pirate Borg Compatible project together on Kickstarter for the Side Quest Event and there's only a few days left on it.

Imagine a trifold. You unfold it. One side? 20 brand new Relics for the Pirate Borg TTRPG, each designed to be affixed to the bow of your favorite sailing ship.

On the other side? An adventure scenario, where you and your closest friends/work acquaintances/some people you met at a gas station decide to take one of these Fantastic Figureheads for yourself. Of course, the current owner may not be too keen on that.

This is a family affair.

Writing and Layout: William "This Effin' GM" Tramp. You already know this guy. It's me. I'm this guy.

Art: Sarah "This Effin' Wife" Tramp. She's amazing. She did the cover art for this and for And To Think That I Saw it on Ironmonger Street

Shadowdark

We at This Effin' GM Games love designing Shadowdark products and wrestled with whether we should have joined Side Quest with a Shadowdark project instead, but inspiration brought us back to the high seas.

That stated, I DID release a new Shadowdark Gauntlet called The Isle of Mettleover on DriveThruRPG today. So if you are interested in torch timers, gruesome deaths, and violet dahlias, you should check out the link embedded in the image below.

Did I mention it's only $1? Click here to go see it

That's it!

Again, Josh and I are extremely thankful for how far your support got us in this endeavor and can't wait to see you all again soon. Wub you, bye.

Pre-Launch Available Now!

Run! Quickly! Go check out the prelaunch page by clicking the beautiful banner below and click notify me on launch.

That Banner Says Side Quest. What is Side Quest?

Side quest is a brand-new Kickstarter initiative pioneered by Zac Goins to highlight inexpensive ttrpg game aids and supplements made by awesome creators. It's rad and you should check out some of the amazing works others are doing in this.

2. These Bloody Sails in the Wild Now!

My friendly local game store backed this Kickstarter and already have it up on their shelves. This is a lifelong dream and I am so excited.

Why yes, I did buy the incredibly stupid World Cup commemorative nonsense from Taco Bell.

3. DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL FULFILLMENT IS ALMOST DONE

As of right now, every single physical order that DID NOT include the Devoured Labyrinth is on its way to backers.

Well almost. Some of you still haven't completed the Backerkit survey and I can't get your copies to you.

But overall, this is GREAT NEWS!!!!

The Devoured Labyrinth Softcover I am still waiting on until i confirm a test print. Sorry folks.

4. We still need 2% of you

The Backerkit Survey is out (check your email) and we are at 98% completion. This is awesome! But we don't want to miss ordering enough copies for everyone, so for those of you who have not filled out the Backerkit survey, please get those done.

You must complete the Backerkit Survey to receive your rewards.

The Backerkit Survey was sent via email.

Some of you have paid me and will get nothing and that feels weird and gross.

You'll get your digital downloads pretty soon after (hours at most), and remember, the survey is your last chance to add items to your pledge! And we have added some good stuff to the add on section, such as a...

OK THATS IT.

Thanks, you all. I really appreciate your patience and your patronage with my very first Kickstarter. Hope to see you on the next

This Effin' Fulfillment Team.

The Devoured Labyrinth Softcover I am still waiting on until i confirm a test print. Sorry folks.

Reminder: We got thrown a curveball on Lulu, who we are using for international fulfillment. Lulu won't let us do saddle stitched. We made the book every too slightly too big (sort of. Lulu doesn't allow inner cover printing, therefore, the book got bigger). Lulu is having us use perfect bound binding. The other option is to remove 4 pages from the book, and we really don't want to do that.

So, we have made the decision to go ahead with the perfect bound for international orders. Perfect bound binding for the most part is fine. Most soft cover books are perfect bound, it uses glue to put pages in. The issue is that sometimes that glue comes undone and a page falls out of the book. With the choices we have, we figured it better that there's a small risk a page falls out than an assured loss of four pages.

2. We still need 5% of you

The Backerkit Survey is out (check your email) and we are at 95% completion. This is awesome! But we don't want to miss ordering enough copies for everyone, so for those of you who have not filled out the Backerkit survey, please get those done.

You must complete the Backerkit Survey to receive your rewards.

The Backerkit Survey was sent via email.

27 of you have paid me and will get nothing and that feels weird and gross.

You'll get your digital downloads pretty soon after (hours at most), and remember, the survey is your last chance to add items to your pledge! And we have added some good stuff to the add on section, such as a...

3. A FEW QUICK STOPS ALONG THE WAY

While Josh has been busting his butt on layout, I reached out to two good friends and great writers, John Baltisberger (hey that's our editor) and Steven Hamilton and tasked them with helping me make a PDF of new Pirate Borg Mini Adventures. We call the project A Few Quick Stops Along the Way. We are super happy to see over 270 of you have nabbed it and we hope it lives up to expectations for great Pirate Borg content.

Also, did you know it is 20% off if you buy it through Backerkit vs DriveThruRPG?

Did you also know purchase of it gets you a free DriveThruRPG copy?

4. DriveThruRPG

We have uploaded These Bloody Sails to DrivethruRPG for PDF purchases (rest assured, no one is getting physical copies until backers have theirs). We figure PDF is fine as you all already have access to yours.

In addition, we have granted all PDF recipients of the These Bloody Sails Kickstarter a link to a free DriveThruRPG copy. Check your Backerkit Digital Downloads for that link.

Why do this? Two reasons.

First, because we know some people like to keep their PDFs in one place and a lot of people use the DriveThruRPG library as their one stop PDF holder.

Second, we can't get reviews from you all otherwise. I know, it's pretty self-serving, but doing Kickstarter cuts our product off from the gluttonous algorithm's need for feedback to then put it in front of future customer's eyes. So, we gave you all free copies in a place where you can leave feedback.

Turns out you cant leave a review until 24 hours after you purchase it?

  1. Do you need to leave a review? No. Not at all.
  2. Should you? Not really. We will be fine without it.
  3. Do I consider it a personal favor, letting the world know your thoughts? Absolutely. Heck even if your thoughts aren't so nice (we hope they are), feedback is a gift and we would appreciate it.

5. NEW KICKSTARTER INCOMING: Fantastic Figureheads...And Where to Find Them

Imagine a trifold. You unfold it. One side? 20 brand new Relics for the Pirate Borg TTRPG, each designed to be affixed to the bow of your favorite sailing ship.

On the other side? An adventure scenario, where you and your closest friends/work acquaintences/some people you met at a gas station decide to take one of these Fantastic Figureheads for yourself. Of course, the current owner may not be too keen on that.

Whoops! Vice Admiral Christoff Lohkamp Stats
about 1 month ago – Mon, Jun 29, 2026 at 02:32:24 PM

Whoops

Hey everyone! We were made aware that Vice Admiral Christoff Lohkamp's stats were missing from the previous PDF. WE have those PDFs updated both on Drivethrurpg and on Backerkit (check digital downloads). Sorry about that!

Unfortunately, all printed copies do have this error. For anyone who gets a physical copy of this issue (most of you), I want you to know that the stats are basically a modified version of the Naval Mastermind on PB110. Here is a screenshot of the missing stat block as well.

The worst part is Christoff Lohkamp is based on a real life friend of ours and we were SO EXCITED to show Chris his stats in person. Sorry Chris. We love you.

I want to give a big thank you to Mike Dean who caught this. You the real MVP.

In the Wild

On a positive note: Copies are out in the wilds of the United Kingdom! David H sent me a picture on Bluesky of his haul, and I am just so excited to see those out there. If you feel so inclined, tag me in pictures of you receiving them on Twitter, Bluesky, or in the Limithron Discord (I am @thiseffingm). It really makes my day to see it.

Ok, that's all! I'll catch you all later.
